Feel free to post questions about the community roads at BRA. Profanity or rudeness is not encouraged. |

I'm new the BRA we just moved here last month, and my question is are there any plans in the near future to pave the roads that are now dirt roads? If so when will this be done? Another question is how well are the roads maintained in the winter? I have alot of intrest in this beautiful community and would like whatever information I could get about whats going on. Do you only put signs up at the mail boxes or is there a newsletter that goes out other than this web page? Will the pool be closed the rest of this year? Thank You |

Hi Lu Ann! The Civic Association maintains the roads and I can't speak for them. However, due to the cost of building hard top roads (we talking millions of dollars for the entire BRA road system), it is unlikely that this will be done. You can attend the Civic Association meeting and ask if you like. In the winter I have always been able to get in and out of Blue Ridge Acres. Generally they do a great job of plowing and salt/sand. If you live down by the river it could be a problem when there is ice. We use signs at the mailboxes for events or special happenings. There is a quarterly newsletter that I edit. Because the showers burned with the club house, I think the pool will be closed for the rest of this season. Functioning showers are required by the County. Are you a Club member? Chip Gallo |

Hello Chip I want to thank you for responding to my questions, I didnt think the roads would be fixed as I know how expensive it would be but I knew it wouldnt hurt to ask. We don't live on the river side so I'm hoping we will be fine this comming winter. Yes we have joined the club 3 weeks ago however only my two sons have used the pool my husband and I havent had time to go yet. So it looks like maybe next year we will enjoy the pool. We are waiting anxiously to get access to the river so that we can go fishing. When I paid the membership fee the Pool Manager she told me I would more than likley recieve a refund as we joined so late in the year and at the same time we would get the access to the river but so far iv'e heard nothing else, I'm hoping since you just had a meeting I should soon recieve something. I'm sorry if I keep going on here with more questions but I don't know where else to get informantion. Thank you for all your help Lu Ann Snyder |

I'm not sure how often the Civic Association representatives read these messages. If you have a complaint and need action, the best thing to do is contact them by telephone or in writing if it is a legal threat. |

When does the Civic Assoication. meet? Can they attend the next Board meeting? The home owners want to know if we can see all financial records from the road work that has been done over the years. We want to see reciepts for all monies spent. When was the last audit done on this account? Please see to it that all this information is brought to this month's meeting.( March 18, 2003) I think the time has come to clean out all the dirty laundry that BRA civic Assoication seems to have.We all can see that our money has not been spent well. or was the most of it pocketed? |

Time to Unite: Amen! It's time to see where the money has gone. I'd be willing to bet my 2003 road maintenance fees that the money has gone to activities other than road maintenance.... I may hold off paying until I receive some real answers... |

The BRACA Board meets on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm in the Blue Ridge Acres building next to the Post Office boxes. All are welcome and encouraged to attend. At each meeting, a financial report is presented and entered into the minutes. I am responsible for copying the approved minutes (with financials) to the website. I have been remiss in this function and apologize. I have received copies of the minutes and will post them as soon as I can. For my part as a BRACA board member, it would be easy to feel offended and frustrated by such negative comments regarding the activities of the board who work hard on behalf of the community when many others don't seem to care enough to get involved. On the other hand it is only right that community members have access to the details of the boards financial and decision making activities. That is one of the reasons I volunteered to make this website available to the community to keep people informed and provide a forum for comments, debate and productive suggestions. |
