i thought dogs was supposed to be on leashes around here. is there a leash law up here or not. one day the dogs around here are going to end up dead because they are chasing cars or jumping in front of them. the owners will start to bitch because there dogs are dead because some one hit them and killed them or hurt them. let me know what everyone thinks.

Every so often the animal control people come up and drive around. The county enforces a leash law so if you have a problem with dogs, give them a call.

I have to agree that there is a real problem with some people letting their dogs roam free. I've been nearly attacked, have felt threatened several times and worry about my kids. There aught to be a better solutions than to force us to call the animal control people on our neighbors.

Roger - my wife saved a boy who was being mauled by several dogs at the end of our driveway. She has been to court several times to testify in the case brought by the county against the owners of the dogs. We have purchased chemical spray which can be used on aggressive dogs.

In my opinion the worst risk is when several dogs run together. Their pack instincts make them much more dangerous than a single dog.

Overall I think spray and a good stick are the best defense.

It has been postponed several times because one of the defendants requires an interpreter. Next hearing date is this month.

As the father of the boy who was attacked, I am glad to say the case has been settled. The Dogs were put to sleep last month. The owners were charged with harboring vicious dogs and not having the dogs on leashes. There are still 13 other charges pending, but if they don't get into any trouble within the next six months, they will be dropped. Dogs running loose in the neighborhood is still a major problem. With the experience I've had with this, I do know one thing. ANY dog caught on my property will be turned over to the animal control. This includes the whippett that continually runs thru my yard!!!
